How it works
The generator builds sentences of 7 to 15 words from the vocabulary of the standard Lorem Ipsum passage, capitalises them, adds an occasional comma and ends each with a full stop. Paragraphs have 4 to 7 sentences. The same word never appears twice in a row, which would look like a typo.
With “Start with Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet” ticked, the text opens with the classic first sentence that everyone recognises as placeholder text:

You can generate up to 100 paragraphs, 500 sentences or 5,000 words at a time.

What is Lorem Ipsum?+
Scrambled Latin used as placeholder text in design and publishing since the 1500s. It comes from a passage of Cicero's "De finibus bonorum et malorum" (45 BC). Because it is not readable, it lets people judge a layout without being distracted by the words.
Why not use real text?+
Readable text draws attention to what it says rather than to the design. Lorem Ipsum has a natural-looking mix of word lengths, so it shows how text will flow without inviting anyone to proofread it.
Can I use it on a live website?+
It is fine for mock-ups and development, but replace it before publishing. Search engines see placeholder text as low-quality content, and visitors find it confusing.
How do I get HTML paragraphs?+
Choose Paragraphs and tick "Wrap paragraphs in p tags" to get each paragraph inside its own tag, ready to paste into HTML.
