How it works
Each period is the time from its start to its end, minus the break in minutes. The periods are added up and the total is shown three ways:
Hours and minutes, such as 38 h 45 min.
Decimal hours, the total minutes divided by 60 and rounded to two decimals, such as 38.75.
Hours:minutes, the timesheet format, such as 38:45.
Times use your device’s format, 12-hour or 24-hour. A period that ends earlier than it starts is counted through midnight. If you enter an hourly rate, the gross pay is the decimal hours multiplied by the rate, rounded to cents.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the hours between two times?+
Subtract the start time from the end time and take off any unpaid break. From 9:00 to 17:30 is 8 hours 30 minutes, and with a 30-minute break it is 8 hours. The calculator does this for each period and adds them up.
Does it work for night shifts that end the next day?+
Yes. When the end time is earlier than the start time, the period is counted past midnight, so 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours. The line under the period says "Ends the next day" so you can check it is what you meant.
How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?+
Divide the minutes by 60. 45 minutes is 0.75 hours, so 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 hours. Payroll and invoices use decimal hours because they can be multiplied by an hourly rate.
Is the pay shown before or after tax?+
Before. It is simply the total hours multiplied by the hourly rate. Taxes, social security and overtime rules depend on your country and contract, so they are not applied.
