Converting room sizes
If you know a room’s length and width in one unit, multiply them first and then convert the area: a 4 × 5 m room is 20 m², which is 215.3 ft². Converting each side first and then multiplying gives the same result, but rounding the sides can add small errors.

How big is an acre?+
An acre is 43,560 square feet or 4,046.86 square meters, roughly 40% of a hectare. A standard football pitch (105 × 68 m) is about 1.76 acres.
What is the difference between an acre and a hectare?+
A hectare is 10,000 m² (100 × 100 m), and it equals 2.471 acres. Hectares are used for land in metric countries, acres in the US and UK.
Why can't I just multiply by the length conversion factor?+
Area is two-dimensional, so the length factor must be squared. 1 foot is 0.3048 m, but 1 square foot is 0.3048² = 0.0929 m².
